Immigration updates – Exemption on skill requirements for certain roles and sectors

Immigration New Zealand has recently announced further exemptions to Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV) skill requirements. The purpose of the exemption is to assist with the shortages within those roles and sectors so that employers can continue their business and in turn support the growth of our economy.

The skill requirement exemption will be applicable to the following roles and sectors:

1. Meat and Seafood processing roles;

2. Tourism and hospitality roles;

3. Care workforce sector agreement roles;

The exemptions will come into effect on 8 September 2024. However, please do keep in mind that are limitations the eligibility of being able to apply for an AEWV exemption to skills requirements.
