Investor Category
Two Categories:
1. Growth Category
2. Balance Category
Growth Category
- Minimum investment amount is $5 million NZD
- Can only invest in Managed Funds or Direct Investment
- Have 6 months to transfer the funds from the date of AIP
- Investment period being 36 months
- Need to be in NZ for a minimum of 21 days
- Minimum English requirement not required
Balance Category
- Minimum Investment $10 million NZD
- Acceptable Investment includes:
· Listed Equities
· Philanthropy
· Property Development
· Bonds
· Managed funds
· Direct Investments
- Have 6 months to transfer the funds from the date of AIP
- Investment period being 60 months
- Minimum English requirement not required
General requirements of good character and health are still to be applicable. In addition, the legality of the nominated funds will need to be demonstrated, that is how the funds were earned to acquired.
The funds do not necessarily need to come from overseas. If you have assets or funds in New Zealand, it may be included as nominated funds.
There is also the possibility for you to reduce your time required in New Zealand for your investment period. To reduce your time required in New Zealand, you will need to invest more than the minimum investment and depending on the additional investment, INZ will reduce time required accordingly.
Managed Funds
If you are looking to invest in managed funds, the managed investment products must be on the acceptable managed fund list maintained by NZTE or a discretionary investment management service, which is accepted and maintained by NZTE.
Listed Equities
If you are looking to invest in listed equities, this needs to be done through an exchange traded fund or managed fund that is held by someone licensed by the Financial Markets Authority to provide this service. Any listed equities must be a New Zealand entity
Direct Investment
Direct investment can be listed equities, equity security in an investee entity or another financial.
Above mentioned investments must be confirmed by NZTE.
Property Development
If you are intending to invest in Property development, you must invest in NEW developments. They can be residential, commercial, industry or existing commercial or industrial property developments.
With this option, investors will need to keep in mind of OIO requirements and to ensure you are eligible to acquire the property/development.
Bonds
Must be New Zealand bonds.
