Immigration New Zealand Amendments to Manual

INZ has made amendments that are now in effect

Immigration New Zealand has recently released their amendments for their operational manual. The amendments relate to the Parent Category Expression of Interest (EOI) transitional provision immigration instructions.

With these new changes, once a Parent EOI is submitted, it is placed into a pool and 90% of it will be selected based on their submission date and leaving 10% at random selection.

Parent EOI that have been submitted will be removed from the Pool if the confirmation of interest is not presented. Applicants in the EOI Pool are required to confirm their interest to remain in the pool every two years, the confirmation is required to be received within 6 months of the two-year renewal date which is done by submitting the Parent EOI Confirmation Form.

Immigration Officers may also remove Parent EOI if they do not believe the applicant meet the requirements to be granted a resident visa. If the EOI includes an applicant who is already included in multiple EOI’s in the Pool, immigration officers may also withdraw the application. An applicant may only have one EOI in the pool at any given time.

Applicants that have an EOI in the Pool and a prior unselected EOI that was removed on or before 4 October 2026, their current application will be placed in chronological position, in line with the date order selection. This will be reflected by the date of the earliest removal of the application, so long as the applicant’s time out of the EOI pool does not surpass 90 days. This also applies to joint Parent EOI, at least one of the applicants must be related to the earliest removal of the application. This applies to either the main applicant or partner.
